Collagen
Skin elasticity refers to your skin’s ability to stretch and bounce back into place. Our skin’s elasticity is what gives us plump, healthy-looking skin. As we age our skin loses its elasticity and it starts to sag and wrinkle. Our skin is made up of three layers, the outermost layer- epidermis, the middle layer-dermis and the deepest layer-subcutis. The dermis layer contains two kinds of fibrous proteins called collagen and elastin. These proteins are found in the skin’s connective tissues and are responsible for its elasticity. As our skin loses collagen with age, the bond between the epidermis and the dermis weakens. This separation of the layers of the skin causes the skin to sag and appear wrinkled. In other words collagen holds are skin together, and as it decreases, gravity takes over pulling the skin down. Collagen and elastin are the fibers that make it possible for the skin to stretch and spring back into place.
Grape Seed Extract
Grape Seed extract increases cell turnover and collagen synthesis which helps your skin stay elastic and healthy. If used consistently, skincare and beauty products that contain grape seed extract can even out your skin tone and treat acne outbreaks due to the anthocyanidins’ antioxidant and microbial properties!
Mineral Oil
It can help soften, cleanse and moisturize the skin. Mineral Oil is an example of an occlusive moisturizer. These form a barrier on the skin, which helps prevent water evaporation and reduces water loss through the skin by 99%.
